‘Unofficially Yours’ is love undefined
Manila, Philippines – LOVE UNDEFINED – No tears, no fears. No promises, no commitments.
Definitely no definition, no label. Love undefined.
That’s the theme – if it can be called that – of Star Cinema’s “Unofficially Yours,” directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and topbilled by JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Angel Locsin.
* CONTRAST – Sex without sabit is Angel’s role, just enjoy it.
Lloydie, on the other hand, is looking for performance and stability in his lovelife.
What if Ms. Promiscuous and Mr. Straight (he tries to be, anyway) meet?
Well, they did, during a one-night stand yet.
Consenting adults they are, so what’s the problem?
Angel is happy enough with casual sex every so often, but Lloydie wants it for keeps.
* ‘MAPANGAHAS’ – The two stars agree with direk Cathy when she says “Unofficially Yours” is her most daring, mapangahas film to date.
Lloydie plays a dentist and Angel a lifestyle reporter for a broadsheet. Which explains the poster, the two lead actors covered by newspapers.
Wonder if the scriptwriter and Cathy based Angel’s character on a real person. If so, sino kaya?
Asked if a meaningful and lasting relationship could start with a one-night stand, Lloydie said, “Yes, of course.”
And does Angel agree? “Better start by being good friends.”
Sex can come later?
By the way, “Unofficially Yours” was partly shot at the Mall of Asia branch of Executive Optical, where topnotch services and products are offered.
* BEHIND CLOSED DOORS – Of course, the bedroom scenes were shot behind closed doors. Hot and sizzling, if we are to believe reports of so-called “insiders.”
Lloydie and Angel were said to be comfortable with their skin.
Angel was in her undies. Believable. And Lloydie completely nude – not even plasters to cover his privates. That one is hard to take, knowing the guy is some kind of “Maria Clara.” But then there’s always a “surprise element” in the guy. He can be daring in choices of roles. So why not baring, too?
“Unofficially Yours” opens Feb. 15 nationwide in over 100 theaters.
* OFFCAM LOVELIFE – Offcam, Lloydie and Angel are in relationships.
He’s officially committed to Shaina Magdayao. Yes, they’re back in each other’s arms.
She’s in a relationship with Fil-Brit Azkal (football player) Phil Younghusband. “Unofficially” though, says Angel, whatever that means.

Angel Locsin and JOHN LLOYD Cruz reveal their thoughts on their real life relationshipsAngel Locsin and JOHN LLOYD Cruz were placed on The Buzz’s hot seat when Boy Abunda asked them two crucial questions about their love lives. The host asked Angel if the reason she is afraid to put a label on her relationship with Phil Younghusband is because of her failed relationships in the past and the actress denied that it has something to do with her exes. “Ako hindi, hindi ako takot mag-commit. Unfair din naman baka isipin ng tao na dahil sa past experience ko or past na ka-relasyon ko, hindi yun. Siyempre kapag nagco-commit tayo dapat ‘yung sigurado, ‘yung ready na tayo ibigay yung buong sarili natin, para ‘di tayo nagkakasakitan. ‘Yun yung gusto ko. ‘Pag nag-commit ako, committed talaga.” Angel adds that she isn’t seeing anyone else besides Phil. “Wala naman ako dine-date na iba, ine-entertain. Oo, kanya naman ako pero mahirap na papasok kami sa isang relasyon na ‘di pa kami ready pareho.” JOHN LLOYD on the other hand, composed his thoughts for a while and only answered Boy’s question “Is Shaina Magdayao the girl you want to live with for the rest if your life?” with a few words. “Yun ang inaasahan. I’d like to hope so.” As for their movie, Unofficially Yours, Boy also asked if there were times that they felt smitten by one another during the shooting of the film. “Imposible po kung di ka mabighani kung ang nasa harapan mo Angel Locsin,” was JOHN LLOYD’s quick answer. Angel though admitted she had a small crush on her co-star in the past and as she begun to work with him they became close and comfortable towards one another. When asked if her crush became bigger, Angel could only reply, “Pwede, Tito Boy. Ang hirap kasi magkatrabaho kami nakikita ko siya as Macky (JOHN LLOYD’s character in the film), mahal ko siya kasi in character kami Tito Boy but sa ngayon yun lang muna.” Angel even recalled a memorable scene she did with JOHN LLOYD. “Memorable scene sa akin yung nasa opisina kami kunwari tapos namula talaga yung mukha ko. May ginawa si Lloydie na yung tenga ko namula. Kasi wala sa script yung mga sinasabi niya eh.” JOHN LLOYD added that it’s their director Cathy Garcia-Molina’s style to add moments that deviate from the script. “Alam naman ni Toni (his leading lady in Amnesia Girl) yung style ni Direk ‘di ba? (Cathy Garcia-Molina), mga surprises kapag eksena para ‘di mo anticipate yung mga mangyayari.” The two stars add that Unofficially Yours is different from the drama show and romance-comedy films they did before. “Napakalaking bagay para sa amin, para sa team up namin kung maitatawid namin ‘to at kung tatanggapin ng mga tao because coming from Imortal, na you have a goth-romance na tema, and then you have this kind of movie na rom-com na mala-hindi rom-com, so malaking bagay para sa amin … sana po magustuhan niyo,” JOHN LLOYD confessed. Angel also admitted in the interview that she thinks this is the most daring film she has done at the moment. “Oo. Kasi ‘di naman ako sanay na ganito yung mga pelikula kong ginagawa. Kung meron mang love scenes siguro isa , or bilang yung mga kissing scenes.” JOHN LLOYD though said Unofficially Yours comes close to In My Life, where he did a kissing scene with actor Luis Manzano, as his most daring film. JOHN LLOYD and Angel are leaving for LADON’T think it’s rest day now for JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Angel Locsin just because nagbukas na today sa mga sinehan nationwide ang kanilang first film together, Unofficially Yours. They are still as busy for the movie. For one, JOHN LLOYD and Angel are leaving for Los Angeles, California, for its premiere on February 24. The day before the premiere of the movie in two theaters in Megamall last Tuesday, yes, yesterday, they were in Davao City. For the past few days, we all know that they’ve been promoting Unofficially Yours on tv, radio and mall tours aside from attending its presscon. Hindi ba sila napapagod? “Well, we do,” sagot ni Angel. “But inspired kami with what we are doing, dahil ang ganda nga ng feedback about the movie.” The film, directed by Cathy Garcia Molina and produced by Star Cinema, also marks the screen comeback of now tv director and producer Edgar Mortiz. A former matinee idol, best known as the other half of the Bot-Vi (for Batangas Governor Vilma Santos) loveteam, he plays dad to Angel in Unofficially Yours.

JOHN LLOYD is a true friend-- AngelNAKU, Ian F., nakakaloka ang reaction ng mga taong obviously ay na-impress sa trailer pa lamang ng first movie team-up nina JOHN LLOYD Cruz at Angel Locsin — Unofficially Yours — heto at umuulan ang hiling for tickets sa premiere ng movie sa dalawang sinehan sa Megamall tonight. Balak pa rin daw nilang panoorin ang movie sa opening nito the following day. Produced ng Star Cinema and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, the film will open in theaters nationwide tomorrow. Kung sabagay, even JOHN LLOYD and Angel are themselves intrigued sa theme ng pelikula. It’s different daw talaga from the concept ng mga pelikulang previously ay ginawa nila – individually. Adult in theme yet moviegoers of any age can relate to it, including the characters which both of them are portraying. After all nga naman, let’s face it, times have changed when it comes to love and relationship. In Unofficially Yours, JOHN LLOYD plays a professional dentist, who decides to try another profession — ang maging writer. His name is Mackey. He is accepted to write for the lifestyle section of a broadsheet, na ang isa sa mga senior writer ay si Princess or Ces for short. Assigned si Mackey to train with Ces. It turns out na may ‘kahapong’ namagitan sa kanila. Nag-engage sila sa one-night stand na dahil sa nangyari ang lahat nang madalian, they never got the chance to ask for each other’s name. Somehow, magkakaroon na ng ideya na liberated si Ces when it comes to love at pakikipagrelasyon. Which is the exact opposite of Mackey, who is old-fashioned at heart. How the two are able to resolve their differences when they find themselves in love with each other, makes the movie even more intriguing. How would they describe the film then? The two were asked during the movie’s presscon. “We’d say its officially sexy,” they replied. Asked if they would allow their respective ka-relasyon at the moment, Shaina Magdayao and Phil Younghusband, to watch the movie, both said: “Why not?” JOHN LLOYD and Angel said nakatulong nang husto ang pag-work nila together sa series na Imortal para maging ‘at home’ sila sa isa’t isa sa shooting. Of course, magkaiba raw ang genre ng dalawa. Pero it cannot be denied na sa taping pa lamang ng Imortal, somehow ay may na-develop nang closeness sa kanila, na lalong na-enhance when they teamed up in Unofficially Yours. For Angel, JOHN LLOYD is not just a good actor but a true friend as well. “Puwede mo siyang i-trust all the way. Kahit sa intimate scenes namin sa pelikula, gentleman pa rin siya,” she said. JOHN LLOYD, for his part, said Angel represents sexiness in a woman. “I am lucky (sabay diin sa salitang ‘lucky’ habang nakasulyap kay Angel) to have worked with her twice. “As usual, tulad ng ipinakita niya sa Imortal, she can play any role assigned to her. I would be lucky (kuha n’yo why he keeps on using the word ‘lucky’?) if I can work with her again soon,” dagdag pa ni JOHN LLOYD.

www.mb.com.ph/articles/351677/mature-romcom-effective-in-unofficially-yoursManila Bulletin By KAYE VILLAGOMEZ February 18, 2012
Mature Rom-Com Effective In 'Unofficially Yours'MANILA, Philippines — It’s about time Filipino chick flicks dropped the following acts: Third party conflicts, accident-grounded twists, and confrontational exchanges of one-liners. The JOHN LLOYD Cruz-Angel Locsin starrer “Unofficially Yours” does just that. Drained from teleserye-mandated encounters, the newest Cathy Garcia-Molina offering serves a mature sex-comedy plot about discovering relationship on the reverse: Sex first, love later. In the film, JOHN LLOYD plays Mackie, a dentist who really wanted to be a journalist. He was about to take up journalism when he followed his girlfriend to med school. After a sorry breakup, he soon lands a job at Manila Bulletin as a lifestyle beat reporter where he gets to train under Ces (short for Princess, played by Angel) with whom he had a steamy one-night stand on a beach. Quick to leave was the hot girl and on-the-rebound Mackie did not even get her number only to have a “Grey’s Anatomy” moment when he realizes he slept with a would-be co-worker. As soon as they start working together, sexual sparks uncontrollably go haywire. And taking off where they left during the one-night stand, Mackie and Ces engage in a series of literally banging lovemaking with the girl laying her only ground rule: Don’t fall in love. She said why ruin something they both get to enjoy without the pressures and drama that comes with commitment? But then comes a likely conflict moviegoers recently saw in “Friends With Benefits” and “No Strings Attached.” The bed sparks start to grow into affection. Mackie started courting Ces, something that ultimately melts the latter. Problem is, Ces had a painful experience that led to the sex-only-no-drama stance. She dropped a career opportunity to be with the man she thought was the one (Patrick Garcia) who eventually left her for a career choice of his own. And now she’s grown to be fear itself, afraid to let her guards down, dive head first only to get hurt eventually. Molina dared open her film with scenes from the one-night stand, something local viewers don’t usually see in first frame sequences. Although the lady director laced her film with a lot of bed action, no flesh-baring scene went beyond what was required. Everything was suggestive, but Angel surely is hot enough in these scenes. Comic timing was also on target, particularly for JOHN LLOYD and his friends (Edgar Allan Guzman, Panying, Boom Labrusca) with whom Mackie shares a condo unit. In one particularly uncomfortable but hilarious sequence, Mackie’s friends arrive home to hear what hot sex their friend was having inside his room. With awkward spelled on their faces, the three sober up, sip coffee and glue themselves on Baby TV channel as they wait for Mackie and Ces’ adventure to end. It was also original the way the main characters code their steamy get-togethers with “coffee tayo?” If you found situational humor from movies like “Going the Distance” and “The Ugly Truth” amusing, “Unofficially Yours” fits your type of chick flick, with a large dose of Pinoy kilig to boot. JOHN LLOYD proves anew why he continues to be the chick magnet that he is, despite a rekindled romance with girlfriend Shaina Magdayao. He just backs up all that cuteness with A-rated, authentic (funny when he wants to be and emotional when he needs to be) performance. As Mackie, he is both vulnerable and charming as he falls for someone who tries hard to push him away as far as she could. On the other hand, Angel registers the kick-ass reporter she portrays. As Ces, she must have had solid police beat training the way she handles her assignments. Angel is most believable as a toughie on bed and off. Of course, it was particularly interesting and entertaining for us working for this newspaper how the movie played things out. After all, the Star Cinema production shot at least 80 percent of the film right where this review is about to beat its own deadline. At the Bulletin offices, employees are missing – as our editor Nestor Cuartero described in a previous column – our best-dressed officemates. Attachments:

At saka gagawa ako ng indie movie with Direk Joey (Reyes). Very excited na ako roon. “First indie movie ito ni Direk Joey sa Cinemalaya at first indie movie ko pa rin. Kumbaga, pampapresko lang ba. Gagawa ka lang ng isang character na out of the box, nakakatuwa. Apat kami rito, ako, si Uge (Eugene Domingo), Iza Calzado and Agot Isidro,“ banggit pa niya. Attachments:
