www.pep.ph/news/33079/john-lloyd-cruz-says-he39s-lucky-to-have-girlfriend-shaina-magdayao/1/3PEP Joyce Jimenez Feb. 21, 2012
JOHN LLOYD Cruz says he's "lucky" to have girlfriend Shaina Magdayao"Ako ang suwerte ho." "So, maayos naman kami. "Well, medyo kailangan munang ano... paano ba ito ipu-put to words... Kumbaga, may mga kailangan muna kaming i-settle individually. "So, inayos muna namin 'yon." NO MARRIAGE PLANS. Bagamat "love is sweeter the second time around" para kina JOHN LLOYD at Shaina, nilinaw ng matinee idol na wala pa silang planong magpakasal. "Hindi mo masasabi, e, puwedeng later on pa." CAREER PLANS. A Very Special Love (2008) at You Changed My Life (2009). "Well, wala naman akong malaking bagay talaga na pinaghahandaan in the future, aside from gusto kong lang ma-achieve 'yong quality of life na napi-picture ko for myself. "So, puwede pa rin akong may trabaho dito, pero mas may luxury of choice na hindi naman kailangan na gabi-gabi magpuyat. "Kumbaga, gano'n lang, para I can live comfortably with my family. "Kasi ako ano, e, I just want to provide, mag-provide ng ano... kasi pinalad din naman kami. "So, kailangan mong alagaan, protektahan, at pagyamanin. "Kaya siguro hanggang gusto ko 'to, hangggang nandito 'yong passion ko in this craft, e, sana tangkilikin pa rin tayo." MOVIE WITH SARAH. "Siguro in two weeks time, magsu-shooting na kami." Attachments:

www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?publicationSubCategoryId=70&articleId=779937The Philippine Star LIVE FEED By Bibsy M. Carballo
Unofficially Yours raises the bar in rom-coms The expertise of the ABS-CBN network in the area of love stories and rom-coms remains undisputed at present, although the two other networks are closing in on them. Star Cinema’s latest blockbuster movie Unofficially Yours reportedly earned P18.5M at the box-office on opening day, which may end up even higher than its No Other Woman of P220M after three weeks. Both films feature women who reject commitments. These two movies exhibit the unspoken norm in today’s society, that of one-night stands. Not that this is an entirely new concept. Several films have already delved into this subject successfully: The hit Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis who both believed they could live together having sex without falling in love (which got into a controversy with No Strings Attached with the same plot); the local success No Other Woman with Anne Curtis as the no-commitment girl, Cristine Reyes, and Derek Ramsey. In Unofficially Yours, it is Angel Locsin who refuses to be committed to JOHN LLOYD Cruz’s dedicated pursuit. There are just so many plots about love. Those dealing with fear of commitment run the gamut of bad experience with an ex-lover, phobia from parents separating, fear of responsibility, and a weak and clingy partner. So how does one be accepted as better than the other? Going through reviews of Friends with Benefits (FWB), we find clearly that the saving factor of a hackneyed plot is the superiority of the performance. Rotten Tomatoes wrote: “FWB adds nothing new to its well-worn rom-com formula, but the chemistry between Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis is almost enough to carry the movie by itself.” Time follows it up by saying that despite the plot being predictable, “the film was elevated by energetic dialogue, the sexual chemistry between the leads.” Unofficially Yours is similarly successful despite the plot because of the chemistry between JOHN LLOYD and Angel, and their dedicated acting. Will Lloydie’s pursuit win Angel in the end? Of course it will, as she melts into his arms protesting love ever after. And of course, the audience already knows this even before they enter the theater, or else they would storm the box office threatening to get their money back. These are the limitations with which director Cathy Garcia-Molina has to deal with, that of working within the traditional rom-com while presenting something new. Which we happily could say she does with considerable aplomb. The Angel and JOHN LLOYD we meet in this rom-com are different from their former personas. These are animals in bed, leaving much to the imagination, and the R-13 rating of a liberal ratings board. Their characterizations are sharp, their dialogue smart and modern befitting reporters working in a news office, but at home reverting to traditional manners of the oldies. We like the touch of having Lloydie disrobe as he never has before, signifying willingness to play whatever the part calls for. Our movie house seatmates find it amusing, as Lloydie is far from becoming a Bench model, but who says only those with abs are allowed to disrobe? Our favorite funny scene is that of Lloydie’s housemates sitting in the sala watching TV while the banging is going on in the bedroom behind the screen. Our fave weepy scene is of mama Tetchie Agbayani confessing to Angel why despite the many heartaches she suffered from the many men she has had, she never gives up hoping that ultimately, the right one will come along. Our least liked scene was when Angel goes into that kilometric retelling of her heartache when she left hearth and home for boyfriend, played by Patrick Garcia, who ultimately exchanged her for a career abroad. Now she is being persuaded by suitor Lloydie with his puppy eyes to do the same for a plum career offer in Singapore. We think a few hundred words less would do the job. The monumental success of Unofficially Yours, however, would automatically include the audience expecting sexier leading men and women, smarter dialogue to up the ante on rom-coms. That means Bea Alonzo, Sam Pinto, Maja Salvador, Lovi Poe, Solenn Heussaff, Angelica Panganiban between the two leading networks. And that also means Sarah Geronimo taking a leave from rom-coms. Pinoy fans love US premiere of 'Unofficially Yours'
GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA - Movie fans had plenty to cheer about over the weekend as JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Angel Locsin joined them for the US premier of the latest Star Cinema movie, “Unofficially Yours”. “Very, very romantic! I love it,” said a fan. Another fan commented, “Sobrang na-enjoy ko 'yong movie, walang dull moments." Locsin also expressed excitement over the US premier of their movie. “S'yempre, every time naman pag first time papakita 'yong pinaghirapan mo may kaba, may excitement, ganon,” she said. The romantic comedy featured a love story between two casual sex partners. Fans enjoyed the on-screen chemistry between the two Kapamilya stars. “We like JOHN LLOYD and Angel Locsin. We like their love team,” another added. According to Box Office Mojo, Cruz is the reigning box office king. He has six movies in the top 10 list of highest grossing Philippine movies, with Unofficially Yours expected to be the seventh. This was the first time Cruz has been in the US since his successful appearance during One Kapamilya Go's Hollywood invasion last September. Despite his string of hits, and his support of fellow Kapamilya star Sam Milby's pursuit of the US mainstream, Cruz says he's happy staying in the Philippines. “As long as I can make money without leaving the Philippines, the comfort of my own home and my family siguro doon muna ako sa atin. Ok naman ako,” he said. The movie will hit US theaters nationwide on March 2 and will run for at least one week. Attachments:

Manila Bulletin By MAUREEN MARIE BELMONTE March 1, 2012
JOHN LLOYD open to do 'butt exposure' sceneMANILA, Philippines – JOHN LLOYD Cruz may have incredulously thrown his head back in mirth over the notion that he’d be taking more “daring” roles from here on, but he didn’t completely rule out leaving little to the audience’s imagination, if need be. “Daring parang nakakadiri naman ‘yun,” Cruz said in jest to Bulletin Entertainment and other members of the press during Biogesic’s Thanksgiving Lunch for the success of the actor’s film “Unofficially Yours.” Cruz, whose most recent blockbuster offering with Angel Locsin has been dubbed as his “sexiest” film to date, said that he’s still not too keen in shedding off his wholesome reputation. Kaya lang ‘yun talaga ‘yung hinihingi nung eksena so binigay ‘ko lang,” explained the 28-year-old star. “And ‘yung sa sinasabi nila na magpapa-sexy ka na ba kasi nagpa-sexy ka ngayon, hindi ‘yun ang intention no’n,” he clarified. Having suggested that he "delivers" whatever a film requires every time, Cruz was asked if he'd be comfortable doing a "butt exposure" scene for a film in the future. To this he replied, “Siguro kung kailangan. Kasi parang you wouldn’t want to do something for the sake of doing it ‘di ba? So ‘yun ang gusto mong i-avoid.” So, that's something to hold on to for the fans of the rom-com superstar that, in due time and with a promising script, he could star in a sizzling sequence and bare his behind a la Derek Ramsay in the 2011 blockbuster film “No Other Woman.” Anne and Shaina Speaking of “No Other Woman,” when Cruz was queried whom he wants to work with next, dropped the name of TV-host/actress Anne Curtis without batting an eyelash. "Alam mo lately, lagi kong naiisip ano, gusto kong makatrabaho si Anne,” he enthused. Adding that "shocked din ako nung naiisip 'ko, eh,” because “parang hindi kami bagay” and “parang it's almost odd.” Though he sees their presumed "lack of chemistry" as a challenge, Cruz believes that "sa panahon ngayon, given the right material, ‘di ba, given the right director, ‘di ba, lahat puwede naman, ‘eh," he mused aloud. Jokingly he pointed out, "movie, ha"...and not a concert. Meanwhile, since he already mentioned the leading lady he’s aspiring to be paired with in the future, Cruz was asked if there will ever be a chance for him to star opposite his real-life love Shaina Magdayao. Measuring his words, he replied, "Well, hindi siya... hindi namin siya ini-entertain. Kung by choice, I don't think I'll choose to do it." “Hindi talaga ‘eh,” he emphasized. Official success of ‘Unofficially Yours’ Prior to its release, the film’s casual sex theme has been the subject of much contention from varying conservative parties. Yet, obviously, as proven by its P100 million earnings during its first week, the film was undoubtedly a huge hit for Pinoys. Why is this so? Smiling, the Kapamilya star remarked, "Ganun naman ‘yung Pinoy ‘eh, kung ano 'yung iniiwasan, ‘yun 'yung madalas panoorin at masarap pag-usapan, ‘di ba? Ganun lang talaga tayo, ‘eh." "And I don't see any wrong about it," he quipped. The viewers, according to him, watched not solely because "pina-practice ‘yun [casual sex]...they were just curious kung ano ba talaga ‘yun." www.pep.ph/guide/tv/9922/john-lloyd-cruz-and-sarah-geronimo-to-reunite-for-the-movie-it-takes-a-man-and-a-womanPEP by Lyn Luna Montealegre March 1, 2012
JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Sarah Geronimo to reunite for the movie It Takes a Man and a WomanThe tandem of JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Sarah Geronimo will once again thrill fans as the two reunite for the upcoming movie titled It Takes a Man and a Woman. JOHN LLOYD and Sarah will reprise their roles as Miggy and Laida in the third installment of this popular franchise. In an interview with ABS-CBN News last February 27, JOHN LLOYD remarked "Medyo matagal din kaming hindi nagkasama. He admitted that it feels good to be working with Sarah again. Both celebrities said that a lot of changes have already happened to the lives of Migs and Laida. John pointed out, "May konting time lapse pero hindi malinaw kung gaano katagal. Ang alam ko three years mula A Very Special Love. Basta may time lapse and sa simula ng storya, doon niyo makikita kung ano ang pagbabago." The host of Sarah G Live commented, "Sa bawat relationship naman laging may changes 'di ba? Ito may time lapse so makikita natin kung ano ang pagbabago kay Laida at sa relationship nila." Do they feel pressure to match the success of their two previous films, A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life? On the other hand, JOHN LLOYD said, "Ako gusto ko lang mag-concentrate sa idea na maraming naghihintay dito. Lahat kami nag-aabang din kami and naghihintay. We're all very excited. I'd rather focus on that kaysa sa ibang bagay." BOX-OFFICE SUCCESS. A Very Special Love was shown in 2008, followed by its tremendously successful sequel, You Changed My Life, shown in 2009. Both movie were directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. In A Very Special Love, Sarah plays the role of Laida Magtalas, a kind-hearted young woman who works hard to provide for her family. Meeting and working for her so-called "Prince Charming" in the person of Miggy Montenegro (JOHN LLOYD) changed their lives forever. Laida worked as an editorial assistant for Mig's magazine called The Bachelor, which his family owns. The movie earned P180 million at the tills. For this reason, JOHN LLOYD and Sarah were hailed as Box Office King and Queen of 2008. Their second movie, You Changed My Life, also became a certified hit with its gross of P209 million. Once again, both celebrities clinched the title Box Office King and Queen for the second time. These romantic comedies were co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films. The third installment of their movie is expected to be released by June or July 2012.

JOHN LLOYD Cruz says Shaina Magdayao is still recovering from her injuryJOHN LLOYD Cruz insisted that he doesn’t mind watching Unofficially Yours with his girlfriend Shaina Magdayao since the sexy romantic comedy is something that he’s really proud of. But you probably know last Sunday, nagkaroon ng konting aksidente si Shaina sa ASAP. Hopefully, bago matapos yung movie mapanood na niya,” said JOHN LLOYD who marked his sixth year as Biogesic’s celebrity endorser last Wednesday, February 29. Shaina’s still resting at home because she can barely walk with her injured ankle. Shaina was injured during her production number on ASAP when her heel got caught on a part of the stage that had come loose. “Oo, kasi sa ASAP natapilok siya. Yung ankle niya namaga, hanggang ngayon maga siya. Hindi naman siya na-confine sa hospital. Naka-bandage lang at pinapahinga lang niya [yung paa niya ngayon]. Actually, hindi pa siya makalakad.” The actor further shared that he and Shaina had a chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day despite his busy schedule. “On the day itself nasa premiere night ako ng Unofficially Yours, tapos the next day, nag-post Valentine celebration kami. When asked if he gave her a gift, JOHN LLOYD simply replied, “Hindi, pero kapag may chance na nakakapag-abroad kami, dun kami nakakabili ng regalo para sa isa’t isa.” A fashion icon himself, JOHN LLOYD admitted that he actually loves shopping for clothes for Shaina. So far okay naman,” he beamed. Is he a generous boyfriend then? “Hindi naman, pero I try to make it a point na ‘pag may chance ako mamili ng konti abroad, siyempre laging nandiyan sa listahan ko ang mommy ko, si Shaina, sometimes for my dad din [pero hindi siya talaga yung into fashion].” As a trusted endorser of Biogesic, JOHN LLOYD said that he makes it a point to take good care of his health especially this 2012. Luckily for him, he’s controversy-free these days. Work-wise, wala akong masasabi. My personal life is doing very well—with Shaina, with my family.” Does he have plans of settling down anytime soon? “Matagal pa, wala pa. Honestly, maraming pa kaming gusto i-achieve individually. We want to maximize our potentials, so yun muna tayo.” Attachments:

www.push.com.ph/features/7535/is-john-lloyd-cruz-willing-to-do-butt-exposure-in-his-future-movies/Push by: Rachelle Siazon March 3, 2012
Is JOHN LLOYD Cruz willing to do butt exposure in his future movies?A lot of moviegoers noticed that JOHN LLOYD Cruz exposed more skin than Angel Locsin in their countless love scenes in the movie Unofficially Yours. Asked if he plans to pursue bolder roles in the future, the three-time Box Office King cheerfully replied, “Hindi naman sexy ang tawag dun [kun ‘di] daring, parang nakakadiri [yung idea na ako magpapa-sexy]. When asked to specify his limitation when it comes to doing daring roles, JOHN LLOYD explained that it all depends on the story of the movie. But most importantly, it helps that he works with his trusted director Cathy Garcia-Molina. As for doing butt exposure in future films, JOHN LLOYD hesitated before saying yes, on the condition that it’s really needed in the script. “Kung kailangan. Kasi parang you wouldn’t do something for the sake of doing it. Otherwise, magmumukha siyang, ‘Bakit mo ginawa yun? Para saan? Anong sense?’ So yun ang gusto mong i-avoid. Ever since, ang treatment ko naman lagi, ‘pag hinihingi ng eksena, kailangan mo gawin, of course within certain boundaries.” But more than the box office success of Unofficially Yours, JOHN LLOYD was proud of the fact that he was able to showcase something different with his big screen team-up with Angel. “Malaking bagay sa akin yung kaming dalawa ni Angel, binigyan kami ng Star Cinema ng show na Imortal, which is a goth romance genre. Ang ibig ko sabihin, parang lumalaki yung range namin as a team-up, para sa akin malaking bagay yun. It has a complexity e, yung kaya namin gawin from goth romance to romantic comedy. In the same way na iba naman yung naibibigay namin ni Bea Alonzo at Toni Gonzaga, yun bang may ma-i-offer ka na something different with each team-up, yun ang pinakagusto ko sa proyekto naming ito.” Attachments:

The Philippine Star March 05, 2012
JOHN LLOYD reveals his funnier side MANILA, Philippines - Jack ‘n’ Jill Magic is bringing more of JOHN LLOYD Cruz’s magical talent and charisma to the small screen through its latest TV commercials. In this new campaign, JOHN LLOYD parodies Filipino romantic comedy, the genre he is best known for, and shows off more of his funnier side. The TV commercials depict JOHN LLOYD playing the lovelorn leading man torn between “some girl” and his love for Magic Crackers. In one version, he enthuses that Magic Flakes is more than just the average crackers — it has a delicious taste and crunchy goodness that make him keep coming back for more. In another, the actor pays no heed to his leading lady’s hurt feelings, as Magic Creams’ rich and delectable fillings keep him preoccupied. The series of commercials clearly shows that while girls may come and go in his life, his relationship with his favorite Magic Crackers will never waver. “JOHN LLOYD is known for his dramatic roles, so it’s very refreshing to see him take on comedy,” said Chris Fernandez, Universal Robina Corporation-Biscuits marketing director. “It’s also amazing how he can really create chemistry with his on-screen partner, no matter who she may be.” At the shoot, JOHN LLOYD proved why he is considered the best actor of his generation. “He was the consummate professional,” said Henry Frejas, who directed the TVCs. “We relied heavily on his own creativity when it came to the delivery of the lines. For every take, he would give us a different delivery so we could pick and choose which one would work the best for the story.” Attachments:

www.pep.ph/news/33258/john-lloyd-cruz-admits-doing-stupid-things-when-he-is-broken-hearted-reveals-he-almost-quit-showbiz/1/1PEP Glen P. Sibonga March 5, 2012
JOHN LLOYD Cruz admits doing stupid things when he is broken-hearted; reveals he almost quit showbizKontrobersiyal ang mga pinagdaanan ni JOHN LLOYD Cruz sa kanyang buhay pag-ibig. Ayon kay JOHN LLOYD, "Basically you get stupid. You do things na hindi mo dapat gawin." Pagbabalik-tanaw nga ni JOHN LLOYD sa isang insidente, "One time, sinundo ako ni Tita Nenette, yung handler ko from Star Magic. Dinatnan niya ako sa bathtub, suot ko yung clothes ko from last night. Ayokong tumayo, parang ayaw mong mag-function." FIRST GIRLFRIEND. "Sana talaga, sana I'm doing a good job being Shaina's boyfriend," sagot niya. ENJOYING GIRLY ACTIVITIES. "Oh, yes. Take me there, I wanna go there. Patagalan tayo." "I enjoy going to yung mga nail salon. Kahit grocery shopping, let's go." Seloso ba siya? "Hindi masyado." Kung nagseselos siya, saan siya nagseselos? "'Pag nakita mo. 'Pag nakakita ka ng even the slightest hint." Bago kami nag-usap, it took us one movie and one teleserye yata." Si Sarah Geronimo? "Si Sarah is very entertaining. "I wanted to stop, I wanted to quit. Twenty-two yata ako noon. "Parang in-associate ko yung fulfillment and personal satisfaction sa serving others, especially the less-fortunate ones. "So I wanted to explore my options working for the UN, UNICEF. "Ang pinaka-tumatak noon sa akin, may nagsabi sa akin na, 'There's a time for everything, try to appreciate kung ano yung meron ka ngayon because that's rare.'" MORE TO ACHIEVE. "On a more personal level, gusto ko talagang ma-achieve yung para sa amin [family], you know, to be able to provide yung sustainable quality of life. "Siyempre ngayon may inaasistihan tayo, may tinutulungan tayo. Attachments:

JOHN LLOYD Cruz: Still the most sought-after leading manJOHN LLOYD Cruz has proven his huge appeal once again with his highly successful movie Unofficially Yours opposite Angel Locsin. He played the hopeless romantic and aspiring dentist-turned-writer Macky with much flair. He may have starred in countless romantic comedies in the past, but it’s his first time to do sexy comedy, not minding the fact that he has no six-pack abs to show off on the big screen. He had countless love scenes with Angel in the movie, the most notable of which was the one where his friends were right outside his room, watching them. Asked how he feels after watching the whole film on the big screen, JOHN LLOYD replied, “Sa tingin ko, mas kumportable kami nung ginagawa yung eksena kaysa nung pinapanood yun. Walang ilangan. JOHN LLOYD has the talent of making his pairing with any actress work, which is why he was tapped as an endorser of Jack ‘n Jill Magic cream crackers where he was featured as a lovelorn leading man torn between “some girl” and his love for Magic crackers. “JOHN LLOYD is known for his dramatic roles, so it’s very refreshing to see him take on comedy. It’s also amazing how he can really create chemistry with his on-screen partner, no matter who she may be,” says Chris Fernandez, Universal Robina Corporation-Biscuits Marketing Director. After Unofficially Yours, JOHN LLOYD will immediately start working on the third installment of You Changed My Life opposite Sarah Geronimo. And at one point, it was the highest grossing Filipino film of all time. So I can’t wait to give them an offering coming from me and Sarah again.” Attachments:
