Hanggang ngayon ma-tapos tanggapin ni Allen Dizon ang Best Actor award sa Gawad Tanglaw ay hindi pa rin ito makapaniwala na makakasabay niyang aakyat sa stage para tumanggap ng karangalan sina JOHN LLOYD Cruz, na naka-tie niya sa Best Actor category at Vilma Santos na tinanghal na Best Actress naman.

“Unang-una, siyempre malaki silang artista kaysa sa akin. Mapahilera lang ako sa kanila ay parang nanalo na ako sa lotto,” say ni Allen.

Masaya si Allen dahil sineseryoso na siya ngayon bilang aktor ng mga award giving body.

“Alam naman natin kung saan ako nag-start. For how many years na ginagawa ko ‘yung pagpapa-sexy, hindi ko ini-expect na pagkatapos ng sampung taon ay nano-nominate na ako ngayon at mananalo rin ng award,” ayon pa kay Allen.

Naniniwala rin si Allen na si JOHN LLOYD Cruz ang mahigpit niyang kalaban ngayon sa award giving bodies pero hindi naman daw siya natatakot.

“Ako naman tinatanggap ko lang ang awards na ibinibigay sa akin kung ako ang manalo. Kung hindi naman ay nagpapasalamat pa rin ako sa kanila kasi na-nominate ako,” aniya pa.

Do you think na mag-aasawa ka uli? “Opo, bakit naman hindi? Siyempre, sabi ng pamilya ng asawa ko, sana huwag na akong mag-asawa ulit. Mahirap, mahirap magpalaki ng pamilya… isang 4 years old at 3 years old, and in my absence, walang pumapalit, yaya lang. So, makatutulong siguro kung may isang magmamahal sa mga anak ko kung makakakita ako. Mahirap kasing may dalawa akong anak. Sabi nila, ‘pag pinagdasal mo, darating sa ‘yo, ganu’n. Miss You Like Crazy’ Earns P114.7 M in 2 Weeks


Star Cinema’s post-Valentine’s offering, “Miss You Like Crazy,” raked in P114.7 million in two weeks based on the latest report of Box Office Mojo.

The JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Bea Alonzo-starrer is the first Philippine movie to surpass the P100 million bracket for this year.

According to Mico del Rosario of Star Cinema, they are hoping that the film will surpass the P150 million bracket in its entire run.

It’s a very good record for JOHN LLOYD Cruz because since 2007, he hasn’t starred in a movie that earned below P100 million. His films (except for cameos) “One More Chance,” “A Very Special Love,” “You Changed My Life,” “In My Life,” and now “Miss You Like Crazy” have all been box office hits.

Angel Locsin pulled out of 'Kokey@Ako'

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN has confirmed that Angel Locsin would no longer be part of fantaserye “Kokey@Ako.”

Locsin was pulled out from the project to do another teleserye with JOHN LLOYD Cruz.

In an interview during the “Kokey@Ako” pictorial, lead star Vhong Navarro told ABS-CBN.com that he completely understands the decision of the management.

“Happy naman ako na magagawa na niya ‘yon (new teleserye) kasi ang pagkakaalam ko dati pa siyang excited na gawin ‘yon,” he said.

Navarro said he has yet to talk to Locsin, but he assured that he is happy for the actress.

“Nagkakausap kami noong medyo pahaging na malabong magawa niya itong ‘Kokey@Ako.’ Pero ngayong na-confirm na hindi pa kami nagkakausap. Okay lang naman sa akin. Ang iniisip ko talaga siya kasi medyo natatagalan nga itong Kokey pero kailangan na niya kasing mag-work. Mabuti naman sisimulan na ‘yong teleserye niya with JOHN LLOYD, isang good friend ko rin,” he said.

With Locsin gone, Toni Gonzaga has stepped in to take over the role. “Kahit na nawala si Angel, naging happy naman ako kasi si Toni ‘yong pumalit. Bestfriend ko ‘yan si Toni. Ang dami naming pinagsamahan na project, gamay na namin ang isa’t isa. First time nga lang na magte-teleserye kami.”

The “It’s Showtime” host will start taping for “Kokey@Ako” very soon.

PMPC announces Star Awards for Movies nominees

After reviewing the nominated mainstream and independent films for two months, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) finally revealed the official nominees to the 26th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

With categories clearly divided between mainstream movies and digital movie entries, this year’s awards will see last year’s surprise hit “Kimi Dora,” with Eugene Domingo in her first starring role, go against veteran actor Bong Revilla’s Metro Manila Film Fest behemoth, “Ang Panday,” among the five Movie of the Year nominees. Meanwhile, two Cinemalaya entries, “Astig” and “Dinig Sana Kita,” slug it out for Digital Movie of the Year, along with three other nominees.

For the hotly anticipated acting awards, it’s going to be a showdown of powerhouse veterans and younger contenders in the Movie Actress of the Year category—with nominees Iza Calzado, Angelica Panganiban, Eugene Domingo, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, and Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos.

The same could be said about the Movie Actor of the Year nominees, which sees high-caliber younger actors JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Allen Dizon going against Roderick Paulate and industry pillars Lou Veloso and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.

The Ulirang Artista Lifestime Achievement Award will be bestowed upon veteran actress Gina Pareño for her outstanding body of work, remarkable achievements in the film industry, credibility and endurance as a great actress. And for the first time, the PMPC gives out the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera award to the controversial Carlo J. Caparas.

The PMPC Star Awards for Movies ceremony has garnered the distinction of being the country’s Golden Globes counterpart. This year’s theme will be “Tatlong Dekada ng PMPC sa Pelikulang Pilipino.” Hosted by Boy Abunda, Ruffa Guttierez, and Lorna Tolentino, the awarding ceremony will be held on April 24, 2010, at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at the Ateneo De Manila University.

The ceremony will likewise be televised the next day, Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on TV5.

JOHN LLOYD Cruz denies that he’s a womanizer

The country’s reigning Box Office King and Queen JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Sarah Geronimo were reunited at the press launch of the new 555 Corned Tuna yesterday, April 13, at Annabel’s Restaurant, Quezon City. The two seemed to be closer than ever as they kept on smiling to each other throughout the event. “It’s always refreshing kapag nakakatabi ko si Sarah kasi medyo matagal din akong nawala sa ASAP XV. Kahit anong mangyari I will always be her fan,” he later said in an interview with the press. JOHN LLOYD also confirmed that preparation for their third movie together is already in the works. “Yeah, actually ginagawa na yung script. Yun ang huli kong narinig from Star Cinema. Pero filming would be indefinite pa. Part pa rin siya ng franchise ng A Very Special Love.”

Despite the controversies surrounding his love life, JOHN LLOYD explained that being romantically linked to other female celebrities has never affected his working relationship with Sarah from the very start. “Hindi naman [sa ganon ako kagaling). Siyempre ang intention initially, makapagbigay ng material na angkop sa panlasa ng mga manonood. Ako naman through my experience, magmula ng i-partner ako kay Bea (Alonzo), at that time I was committed din naman. Hanggang sa through the years nagkaroon naman tayo ng personal relationships kahit na meron tayong ginagawa sa trabaho natin. Kumbaga ang sinasabi ko lang, I don’t think hindrance siya (love life) para makapagbigay tayo ng isang magandang pelikula or material or produkto sa mga manonood.”

JOHN LLOYD clarified that he’s not committed to any girl at the moment. But when asked about his much-speculated romance with Shaina Magdayao, the actor refused to explain the fact that they were frequently seen in each other’s company since last month. Nevertheless, he reacted to being called a “womanizer” after being linked to various actresses including Ruffa Gutierrez, Sarah, and Shaina ever since his breakup with longtime girlfriend Liz Uy. “Ang bigat naman ng salitang yun (womanizer). Iba talaga. In this business, it’s all about perception. People who matter to me, and people who are involved sa mga dikit-dikit na issues, they know what’s true.”

In the end, JOHN LLOYD asked for the press’s understanding for not answering the issues being thrown his way, particularly the one related to Shaina. “Hindi kasi I’d really love to talk to you about this in a more appropriate event kasi nakakahiya naman kay Sarah. Parang I feel terrible na pinag-uusapan natin ito with Sarah beside me. We're here sa event ng bagong ine-endorse namin. My answers would be limited.”

As to the possibility of courting Sarah when she turns 25 years old—the age where she can finally accept suitors according to her parents—JOHN LLOYD stressed that it would be best if people would let her focus on her showbiz career first. “Si Sarah alam naman natin kung gaano siya kafocused at kung gaano ka-importante ang career niya so let her focus, let her do what she does best. Kasi kapag medyo nawalan siya ng focus sa trabaho niya, isa ako sa madi-disappoint dahil isa ako sa mga fans niya,” he maintained.

Sarah Geronimo is unfazed by rumors linking JOHN LLOYD Cruz to other women

At a recent press conference, JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Sarah Geronimo confirmed that the script for their next movie is now in the works, but admitted that they are still uncertain about when production is scheduled to start. Nonetheless, the Pop Star Princess was already excited about teaming up with JOHN LLOYD on the silver screen for the third time in a sequel to A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life.

The Box-Office Queen went on to explain that working with LLOYDY is a worthy experience because she grows as an actress. “Siyempre ‘pag nakakatrabaho mo kasi ang isang JOHN LLOYD Cruz nai-inspire ka kasi. Napaka-professional tsaka ‘pag pinapakinggan mo lang siyang magsalita andami mo nang napupulot na aral parang intellectual,” Sarah said at the official launching of 555 Corned Tuna.

She also expressed her confidence that their team-up will not be affected by ongoing issues about LLOYDY being linked to other women. “Umpisahan natin ‘yung mga nakakaraan pa na ‘di ba si JOHN LLOYD alam natin na ‘yung personal life na committed siya with someone [before] pero tinanggap pa rin ng tao ‘yung tandem namin. Alam ng tao na kahit na may girlfriend siya at that time pero ‘yung kanilang pagsuporta sa tandem namin talagang [solid] ‘di ba?”

Sarah has been paired with Jericho Rosales and Mark Bautista and soon with Luis Manzano in her next movie, but she admitted that it is her tandem with JOHN LLOYD that she is most confident with. “Obvious naman na napakagaling na aktor ni JOHN LLOYD. Makatrabaho mo siya, maka-eksena mo siya na kahit ako kahit konting galing lang mararamdaman mo talaga ‘yung eksena kapag si JOHN LLOYD ang ka-eksena ko, so opo confident ako with LLOYDY.”

While she still considers herself a beginner as an actress, Sarah is happy to have been given the chance to work with big stars, such as LLOYDY, Luis, and Judy Ann Santos among others. “Ako very blessed lang na mabigyan ng pagkakataon na makatrabaho ang katulad nina JOHN LLOYD, Luis at ibang artista bilang isang baguhan dito sa industriya natin.”

Lea Salonga is willing to play a cougar for a film opposite JOHN LLOYD Cruz

“The closer I am to 40, the busier I am getting again,” Lea Salonga proudly said during the press conference of Bounty Fresh Chicken at the Manila Peninsula yesterday, April 12. Bounty Fresh Chicken happened to be her second product endorsement that was launched in the span of less than a week and she was so happy that it turned out to be a product her family has been patronizing over the years. “My mom has been consuming Bounty Fresh Chicken pala for like the longest time. So when they asked me to be an endorser for the product, it was very, very easy to be the spokesperson for something na kinakain talaga namin,” the Broadway superstar, who was recently dubbed by Reader’s Digest as the Philippines’ Second Most Trusted Individual out of 80 prominent figures in the country, added.

But aside from doing commercials in between her concerts abroad, Lea already expressed her wish to do a movie with Aga Muhlach very soon. What came as a surprise to reporters at the press con was her revelation that she’s willing to be Aga’s female counterpart when it comes to being paired with younger Kapamilya celebrities. “Yeah, but only in one condition. I will not pretend to be young. The story has to be an older woman falling in love with somebody younger than her or a younger man falling in love with somebody older because for me that's realistic. I don’t want to pretend that I am 25 years old because I am not anymore. For theater, I can do that because the nearest person (from the audience) to me is 20 feet away. I can hide a lot of things. And I don’t look naman that old. But for film where it’s a close up like this (a head shot), there's only so much you can hide and Photoshop can only do so much,” she explained.

When asked if she has any young actor in mind whom she wants to work with in her future projects, Lea was quick to say that it has to be JOHN LLOYD Cruz. “Oh I love you JOHN LLOYD! I’ve seen his acting. It’s like I watch him on TV and I go, ‘Oh my God! Ang galing galing mo!’ Doing a film with him might be fun if treated really, really well. But he's definitely an actor I’d love to work with.” Apparently, she was totally captivated by his ability to express his emotions really well even with just a simple look. “He's wonderful! I mean, okay, there's so many gwapos out there, plenty right? But JOHN LLOYD kasi is interesting e. He has a very interesting face, which is incredibly expressive. I am interested by that.”

As a matter of fact, Lea also shared that she’s a huge fan of JOHN LLOYD’s team-up with Bea Alonzo in their previous teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man. “I get kilig watching the two of them. When the two of them are paired together, it really, really works. You know that their personal lives are so different or very separate, but when they’re together [their chemistry is] believable.
