JOHN LLOYD Cruz bags some ChanelMANILA, Philippines - His first fashion moment involved putting on skinny jeans for national television. As in super-skinny black jeans. “This was back in the day when no guy would wear super skinny jeans on ASAP,” JOHN LLOYD Cruz recalls. He tells this during a press conference/dinner that celebrates his fourth year as the Biogesic endorser — the nice, good-looking guy who bids us “Ingat” as he goes off, probably to charm more girls. “I asked Liz, ‘Kaya ko ba ‘to?’” he continues. Liz, of course, is Liz Uy, Preview magazine’s fashion editor and Cruz’s ex-girlfriend, the woman that has been widely credited for the actor’s now-evolved fashion taste. “’Sige.’ So I wore them, and okay naman ang kinalabasan. There was also a time when I got into wearing neon colors. Now, Cruz has a more tempered approach to fashion, favoring more subdued colors and relaxing fits. “I don’t know if it came with age, pero pinipili ko kung ano ‘yung comfortable ako, with a sense of what’s trendy.” The actor, whose current flick Miss You Like Crazy attracted 1.8 million people to the movie houses and earned P18 million on its first day, works with stylist Rex Atienza and designer Joey Samson to create looks. Often spotted wearing cropped pants, a shirt, and a blazer with a pair of YSL canvas shoes, Cruz says that this summer, “I like wearing pants na medyo mukhang (from the) ‘60s: medyo wide-legged and cropped, very comfortable and easy to wear.” You know a guy really appreciates fashion and style when he can dig even the girls’ stuff: “I like handbags. Would you believe I have a Chanel?” Cruz asks. “It’s not a handbag for men, but it’s not a 2.55, either; hindi ko kaya ‘yun.” Color us impressed. Easy does it: JOHN LLOYD Cruz hardly looks like the skinny-jeans-wearing baby-blue-blazer-sporting trend observer we’ve come to know. “I choose to wear what’s comfortable now. Like loafers — I’m always in them.” Attachments:

Angel Locsin will soon start doing workshops for her fantaserye with JOHN LLOYD CruzAfter signing another two-year contract with ABS-CBN last March 3, Angel Locsin clarified that she’s happy with the way her showbiz career is going, even though her next projects are still in the planning stages. Actually mas minahal ko itong trabaho ko kaya nagpapasalamat ako,” she said in an exclusive interview with the network’s reporters. Apparently, she also learned that it’s better to wait for the right project to come her way rather than jump right into one that doesn’t really suit her. So ito (soap with JOHN LLOYD Cruz), kahit na medyo matagal yung wait, okay lang kasi worth it talaga. As a matter of fact, preparations for their highly-anticipated fantaserye will soon be underway. Rumor has it that the said project will be a bit similar to Lobo, but Angel was quick to assure everyone that it will surely surpass what she has done last time. Prior to the contract-signing, Angel revealed that she had been taping with JOHN LLOYD Cruz for the ABS-CBN station ID. “Kanina nung nagkita kami, medyo weird yung hi-hello namin. Tapos small talk, small talk lang. At least kahit papa’no nawawala na yung tension. Since JOHN LLOYD has always been romantically linked to his leading ladies, is she worried that the same thing will happen with their upcoming team-up? Mas iniisip naming paghandaan yung character na gagawin namin kasi very challenging siya talaga,” she stated.

JLC-Angel series set to start this AprilNAGING tampulan ng tanong si Cesca Litton, ang maganda at smart na Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) reporter, when fellow entertainment reporters joined her table sa 9501 Restaurant habang hinihintay si Angel Locsin, who was renewing her contract for another two years sa Kaamilya network. Angel called to say she was coming in late since she would be coming from Tagaytay City where she shot the station ID ng ABS-CBN. All of those around Cesca wanted to know the truth about her and Jericho Rosales. Kalat na kalat na kasi ang balitang siya ang apple of the eye ng actor. In fact, sa isang interview, Jericho admitted na madalas nga silang mag-hang-out ni Cesca. Kaso, saved by the bell si Cesca, wika nga, nang dumating si Angel with her dad, Angel Colmenares. Nagkaroon lang ng semblance of order, wika nga, when three of the top ABS-CBN execs, Cory Vidanes, Malou Santos and Linggit Tan, came for the contract signing. The three warmly acknowledged the presence of Angel’s father, na inanyayahan ni Malou sa presidential table para pumirma rin sa kontrata ng anak. Sa bago niyang contract, Angel is set to do at least two series bukod pa sa pagge-guest sa iba’t ibang shows ng ABS-CBN. The first series will start in April with Angel and JOHN LLOYD Cruz. *** Congratulations sa colleagues namin sa entertainment field na sina Ricky Lo (entertainment editor at columnist, Philippine Star); Mario Bautista (People’s Journal at Malaya) at Dolly Ann Carvajal (Inquirer) sa tinanggap na parangal sa katatapos na Gawad Tanglaw. They got the awards for best entertainment column writing. Napili namang best picture ang In My Life ng Star Cinema; best actor, JOHN LLOYD Cruz for In My Life; Luis Manzano, best supporting actor, also for In My Life; and Maria Isabel Lopez, best supporting actress (Kinatay). Si Olive Lamasan naman ang best director also for In My Life.

JOHN LLOYD Cruz yearns to go back to school MANILA, Philippines - When JOHN LLOYD Cruz stepped into the four walls of Jose Rizal University at Mandaluyong City, the yearning to return to school overwhelmed him. “Alam na naman po ninyo na hindi ako nakapagtapos ng aking pag-aaral dahil kulang tayo sa financial support noon at nagsisimula na akong mag-artista,” he said in his speech to an audience of students, art and movie critics, and members of the academe. The actor was named Best Actor for portraying a gay role in Star Cinema’s “In My Life.” The award came from or Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw (Gawad Tanglaw), an academe-based group of film critics, teachers and humanities professors. He went on to cheer the students in the audience. “Mabuhay ang mga Rizalians!” After the awarding ceremonies, the students teased Cruz and his co-star and gay love team in the movie. Cruz and Luis Manzano got teased and were poked fun of, but the two actors just laughed them off. “Lloydie has good looks,” cracked Lucky, eliciting playful laughter among the youth. Manzano won his first acting award as Gawad Tanglaw’s Best Supporting Actor for the role. He thanked his mom for his good looks and for inspiring him.

JOHN LLOYD values health MANILA, Philippines - So how does JOHN LLOYD Cruz show his love? In his lovable portrayal of his characters Popoy in One More Chance, Miggy in A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life, JOHN LLOYD shows an innate sensitivity. “With every character I assume, I hope that the character’s heart lives in me,” says the 26-year-old actor. It is this empathy on-screen that translates to his real-life off-screen, as well - most evident perhaps in the way he ensures that for both himself and his loved ones, only the best and safest will do. As Biogesic endorser, it’s clear JOHN LLOYD has taken to heart his famous catchphrase “Ingat! It’s hard being sick,” the actor shares at a time when he was under the weather. Given the taxing nature of his work and the demands of his career, he prizes the value of good health more than ever. That’s why he takes Biogesic at the first signs of headache or fever that might get in the way of his performance. “It’s a nice feeling endorsing one of the brands you believe in,” he says. Biogesic can be taken even before meals. Like JOHN LLOYD who trusts the brand, so does millions of Filipinos. For four years in a row, people listened and viewed JOHN LLOYD as he spoke about the benefits of having Biogesic by his side. As the brand grew more in popularity, JOHN LLOYD knew that endorsing Biogesic for Kids would be a wise move as well. After all, his mom would give him Biogesic for Kids when he was young. JOHN LLOYD Cruz’s ‘Ingat Ka’ moments on the big screen
So how does Box Office King JOHN LLOYD Cruz show his love? In his lovable portrayal of his characters – whether as Popoy in “One More Chance” or as Miggy in “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life,” JOHN LLOYD consistently shows an innate sensitivity.
“With every character I assume, I hope that the character’s heart lives in me,” says the 26-year-old star in an interview for a local showbiz talk show. And it is this palpable empathy on-screen that translates to his real-life off-screen, as well most evident perhaps in the way he ensures that for both himself and his loved ones, only the best and safest will do.
As endorser of popular headache and fever reliever brand Biogesic, it’s clear he has taken to heart his famous catchphrase “Ingat!” “It’s hard being sick,” the actor shares at a time when he was under the weather. And given the taxing nature of his work and the demands of his career, he prizes the value of good health more than ever. That’s why he takes Biogesic at the first signs of headache or fever that might get in the way of his performance. “It’s a nice feeling endorsing one of the brands you truly believe in," the celebrity says.
As the number one brand prescribed by doctors for headache and fever, Biogesic can be taken even before meals. And just like JOHN LLOYD who trusts the brand, so does millions of Filipinos.
As the brand grew more in popularity along with the wholesome actor, JOHN LLOYD knew that endorsing Biogesic for Kids, the brand’s line specially made for children, would be a wise move as well. After all, his mom would give him Biogesic for Kids when he was young to relieve him of his fever.
Whether on-screen or off, Biogesic’s endorser JOHN LLOYD Cruz knows: only the best and safest will do. And so to the millions of Filipinos who look up to him and eagerly wait for his film and TV projects – including his latest on-screen offering “Miss You Like Crazy” – JOHN LLOYD expresses his gratitude and concern by bidding them all a heartfelt “Thank you and Ingat!”
Biogesic is the leading fever and headache reliever trusted by millions of Filipinos. As the top analgesic brand in the country, Biogesic has been proven safe and effective – with virtually no side effects, even when taken on an empty stomach. Biogesic comes in 500 mg tablet form, while Biogesic for Kids comes in 100 mg/mL Suspension (Oral Drops) for infants 0 to 2 years old, 120 mg/5mL Suspension for kids 2 to 6 years old, and 250 mg/5mL Suspension for 7 to 12 years old.

I think if he sees him, babatiin din naman niya.” Attachments:

Manila Bulletin Mojo:lations By DJ MOJO JOJO March 7, 2010
Bea, JOHN LLOYD… & Dina!No doubt, “Miss You Like Crazy” is the must-see film this year mainly because the John and Bea tandem is back together after a three-year hiatus. My partner Mo Twister, who barely praises films unless they’re exceptional, said that “Miss You Like Crazy” is one of the best locally made flicks put out in a long time. It has the “best kissing scene ever” where Bea Alonzo looks her “hottest.” Magic 89.9 callers also praised the movie for promoting local tourism attractions like the Paco Park and the Pasig Ferry as well as showcasing JOHN LLOYD Cruz in his best role to date. I must admit, I was never really much of a JOHN LLOYD-Bea fan, but the story changed when my Tita Dina Tactacan Castro revealed to me her “not-so-secret” secret passion for this love team; Bea as an on-screen darling and JOHN LLOYD as Tita Dina’s cherub-faced crush which everyone can’t help but adore. (I’d go into more detail about how fanatical Tita Dina is about her “Lloydie” but the fact that she proudly displays a life-sized standee cut-out of JLC which she proudly displays in her room already speaks volumes!) Back to the movie. The characters of “Miss You Like Crazy” are so realistic. All the characters, especially Allan Alvarez (JOHN LLOYD Cruz) and Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) are so flawed, so imperfect, so human. Their inconsistencies are things that we see in our friends and in ourselves. The relationship between the two characters is so wrong, but that’s the kind of thing we get ourselves into sometimes. Allan Alvarez (JOHN LLOYD Cruz) occasionally takes the Pasig River ferry to go to his newly purchased home. On several of these trips, Allan always sees a girl who writes messages on stones and leaves them behind. He picks these stones up and realizes that messages being written are getting worse and worse as time goes by. One day, when the girl writes “Goodbye World,” Allan panics and stops the girl from supposedly committing suicide – he soon discovers that this is not the case. He finds out that the girl, Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) works as a hotel receptionist in Malaysia… And then the magic begins! My Tita Dina Castro flew to Kuala Lumpur and stayed there for three days to join JOHN LLOYD Cruz’ entourage and watch the shoot. They were all billeted at the Renaissance which is only a hop, skip and a jump from the Petronas Towers. Tita Dina says JOHN LLOYD is such a fun guy that the three days spent with him seems it wasn’t enough. Tita Dina rants that the acting prowess of Lloydie was mesmerizing and even Malaysian passersby could not help but stare at him while they filmed in Titingwangsa Park, which is 10 minutes away from their hotel. My take on this must-see movie is that JOHN LLOYD Cruz is so a good actor that he manages to deliver performances so believable and effective that he always sweeps the floor with the entire cast on it. But this time around Bea Alonzo did surprisingly well and was completely at par with Lloydie’s superb acting skills. This combination as well as “Miss You Like Crazy’s” passionate kissing scene, makes this film’s JOHN LLOYD and Bea tandem a powerhouse match made in heaven! Attachments:
