JOHN LLOYD Cruz refuses to talk about his current relationship with Shaina Magdayao[/color] At the press launch of Greenwich Overload Bigatin Pizza products at SM Megamall last Tuesday, August 10, JOHN LLOYD Cruz was elusive when he was asked about his love life. The actor is currently dating Shaina Magdayao. “Okay naman,” he replied curtly and tried to divert the subject by playfully asking the reporter about his own love life. When he was asked for his reaction to an issue involving Ruffa Gutierrez with whom he had a special relationship before, LLOYDY replied, “Andun na siya [sa TV5], andito tayo, so let’s leave it at that.” Although controversies may have hounded JOHN LLOYD Cruz this year, especially about his personal life, the actor still considers it a really good year. Aside from big projects lined-up for him, JOHN LLOYD is happy with his personal life now that his relationship with Shaina is finally out in the open. “This is one bigatin year for me. Iba talaga ‘yung mga blessings na dumating sa akin ngayon talagang wala kang reason para mag-complain,” LLOYDY said. “’Yung pasasalamat lang dahil kumbaga hindi mauubasan ang panahon, ang pagkakataon na ipaalala sa akin kung gaano ako ka-blessed and it’s a good year for me. I really appreciate everything I’m really grateful and thankful for everything na nangyayari sa akin.” The actor was all smiles when members of the press mentioned about the court’s decision to junk the tax case that Bureau of Internal Revenue filed against him last May. The BIR filed the case against the actor for supposedly failing to show his account books. “Sino ba naman ang hindi matutuwa do’n?” LLOYDY said about the settled tax case. “Nagkaroon na ng linaw. Finally naayos na [at] talagang bigatin ang happiness na meron kami.” He related how difficult it was when he had been so worried about the said case and how relieved he felt when it was finally resolved. “Naayos na and lahat na ng parties involved and concerned okay na, na-settle na.” He also refused to talk anymore about the tax case for fear that it could have repercussions. “Aside from my previous statement, wala na ako sa tamang posisyon para mag-comment para sa iba pang tanong kasi baka makaapekto pa sa current state ng kaso. Bukod don sa mga ibang tanong na related sa issue nasagot na siguro ng lawyers ko,” he clarified. Attachments:

JOHN LLOYD Cruz on working with Angel Locsin: ‘Pasaya ng pasaya’Aside from the confirmation of his upcoming movie with Toni Gonzaga under Star Cinema, JOHN LLOYD Cruz gave ABS-CBN.com some updates on his much-awaited teleserye Imortal where he stars opposite Angel Locsin. “Nasa fourth week na yung ginagawa namin na taping. Tuloy-tuloy lang yung trabaho and mas lalong nagiging exciting yung experience at mga eksena. Nakakapagod din minsan kasi may mga scenes na talagang pisikal. Pero okay naman. Yun yung taping ko last time na ka-eksena ko si Maricar Reyes though mas pagod si Maricar, sobrang pagod si Maricar. Masaya kasi iba’t-iba yung nagagawa mo sa isang palabas. May konting action, drama, there’s thriller and suspense. So very interesting talaga siya.” JOHN LLOYD reveals that his friendship with Angel is growing as time goes by. “Masaya. Pasaya ng pasaya kasi mas nagiging interesting every time magkikita kami ni Angel sa set. It is something na I am always looking forward to kapag pumupunta ako ng taping kasi kamini Angel hindi lang… Marami kaming napapagkasunduan. Yung mga pinag-uusapan naming hindi lang puro showbiz, hindi lang puro trabaho at mga gagawin namin, hindi lang nakaka-kahon doon.Andami naming napag-uusapan, like mga investments, and siya for example, yung mga hilig niya sa kotse.” Attachments:

www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/8333/Is-Sarah-Geronimo-avoiding-John-Lloyd-Cruz-.aspxABS-CBN by Rachelle Siazon August 13, 2010
Is Sarah Geronimo avoiding JOHN LLOYD Cruz? There have been reports that the real reason why the sequel of You Change My Life will no longer push through is because Sarah Geronimo wants to avoid being romantically linked to JOHN LLOYD Cruz again. Apparently, she has had enough of the controversies surrounding the sought-after actor and would rather sacrifice their successful team-up than be constantly plagued by the local media. But JOHN LLOYD remained noncommittal when he heard about this issue. “Actually medyo mahirap mag-comment on such statements kasi napasa-pasa yung information at mahirap mamisinterpret yung mismong sinabi niya,” he began. Since he hasn’t had the chance to talk to Sarah yet, JOHN LLOYD only said what he knows based on Sarah’s previous interviews. “Kasi nakapanood ako ng isang interview e, kung saan sinabi niya na medyo hesitant na siya gumawa ng third installment ngA Very Special Love. Ang gusto kasi niyang mangyari, iwan na yung success ngYou Changed My Life. And nakuha naman natin yun. Sabi rin niya na okay lang naman na [magkasama kami ulit] sa ibang project na at sa ibang storya na.” As much as he wants to work on the sequel of You Changed My Life, JOHN LLOYD has resigned himself to accepting the decision that Sarah’s camp made. “Ako kasi tingin ko parang we owe it to all the fans na sumuporta. Bihira yung ganong success na dumadapo sa ganong team up. I guess one in a million kasi siya. Kasi nung una ‘di namin malaman kung papa’no ibebenta yung pelikula e. Halos lahat sinasabi, ‘Anong pelikula ‘yan?’ ‘Bakit sila?’ And then pinalabas at naging maganda ang reception ng tao.” Nevertheless, JOHN LLOYD feels very blessed because Star Cinema is already planning a new movie for him opposite Toni Gonzaga. “Para sa akin kasi, project-wise, it's very inspiring in a sense na masayang-masaya ako na dumating sa akin itong project na ito sa tamang panahon para sa amin ni Toni (whose movie with Robin Padilla was also cancelled). Bigating excitement din kasi I’ve seen her movies and dati na akong fan ng kanyang wit at talent. Nai-present na sa akin yung concept, naging part din tayo ng maiksing brainstorming last week and tuwang-tuwa ako kasi tingin ko ito ang perfect project para sa amin ni Toni,” he beamed. Attachments:

www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/8325/John-Lloyd-Cruz-talks-about-the-kidnapping-incident-involving-Sarah-Geronimo-s-dad.aspx ABS-CBN by Rachelle Siazon August 13, 2010
JOHN LLOYD Cruz talks about the kidnapping incident involving Sarah Geronimo’s dadJOHN LLOYD Cruz expressed his concern towards Sarah Geronimo’s dad Delfin Geronimo who almost got kidnapped inside ABS-CBN premises last August 8. “Yeah, napanood ko nga sa TV. Nakakalungkot nga, hindi ko naman winiwish na mangyari sa iba, pero talagang how unfortunate na nangyari pa sa daddy ni Sarah. Buti na lang wala pang mas malalang nangyari at naayos agad at nahuli yung tao,” he stated during the press launch of Greenwich’s new pizza flavors Hungarian-Sausage-and-Bacon Overload and Shrimp-and-Garlic Overload. The multitalented actor further shared that it should serve as a warning to everyone to take necessary precautions especially when dealing with suspicious-looking persons. “Siguro parang isang malaking reminder ito sa lahat ng tao. Hindi lang dahil nangyari ito sa area namin sa ABS-CBN e hindi na ito pwede mangyari sa iba. Ang sinasabi ko lang, pwede ito mangyari kahit saan so talagang dapat magdoble ingat tayo.” When asked if he thinks ABS-CBN should tighten their security because of what happened, JOHN LLOYD was quick to say that he is not in the position to give a reaction on that aspect of the incident. “Hindi ko alam kasi hindi ko naman alam kung saan nagkaroon ng pagkukulang e. Hindi natin masasabi unless maging part tayo ng proper investigation. Hindi mo alam kung sinong at fault so I don’t think I can comment on that.” Although it could have happened to any other Kapamilya star who were performing on ASAP XV that day, JOHN LLOYD stressed that he did not really worry about his own safety. What’s more shocking for him is that a growing number of people now are resorting to such desperate measures. “Nakakalungkot na ganyan na kalakas ang loob ng mga tao ngayon. Kasi ‘di mo alam kung saan nanggagaling e. Ganyan na sila ka-desperate, yun ang nakakatakot. Hindi mismo yung act itself kundi yung motives behind it,” he added. Attachments:

www.philstar.com/youngstar/ysarticle.aspx?articleId=604359&publicationSubCategoryId=84The Philippine Star By Karen Bolilia August 20, 2010 JLC superstar MANILA, Philippines - It wasn’t very difficult to find Greenwich even in a huge mall that I was unfamiliar with. I didn’t need to ask anyone to steer me to the right direction, because all I had to do was follow the crowd. As I shoved my way through the throng of people waiting outside with their cameras ready, I saw JOHN LLOYD Cruz a few feet away from the entrance, looking every inch the sexy movie star I’ve always imagined him to be. I was right — where he was, the curious spectators followed. And why wouldn’t they? With 13 years of experience, countless awards, and box-office titles under his belt, this guy is bona fide dynamite. JOHN LLOYD doesn’t really have much trouble standing out. Even in a basic black polo and cropped pants (that’s becoming his signature wardrobe staple), he’s casual, yet there’s that ineffable charisma that can only come from a series of hit rom-coms, teleseryes, a string of successful love teams, dozens and dozens of endorsements, and of course, that inevitable heartthrob charm that’s bound to elicit slight palpitations from his massive female fan base. There he was, a guy whose impact on his supporters I may not be able to completely fathom, saying hello to me and graciously shaking my hand — but judging from the dubious stares that I got from his fans (haggard-looking girl talking to a celebrity, I get it), I’d say I just made a pretty roaring collision. “Sorry,” he said, pausing his chat with another guy seconds before our interview. He tested out my recorder, in that voice that is as recognized as his name, and went as far as putting it over his ear as a joke. The comic icebreaker not only earned him brownie points, but also a nervous (and overtly giddy) giggle from me. His smile was genuine, and even with evidently tired eyes, there was no semblance of the enormous stardom going to his head, of the fame transforming him to a man-diva of any degree, or of arrogance and too much self-love. He is what many celebrities claim to be (but have yet to be proven correct): incredibly down-to-earth. In his second year endorsing Greenwich, the bigatin actor said it strangely feels longer than that. “When I come to work for Greenwich, I look forward to fun, excitement and time to enjoy with the group. It’s really more like that than work.” After all this time, you’d think that a press con would be standard procedure for him, but instead of giving off the vibe that he just wants to get it over with, he shares his excitement over the introduction of a shrimp and garlic pizza. “They didn’t have it before, I had to outsource it,” he laughed, adding: “We have one more TVC for this year. I’m looking forward to that.” The local showbiz industry’s equivalent of a Vegas high roller, it’s a good thing he had to do much of the talking, or else this starstruck reporter would have been verbally crippled in his presence. After all, he isn’t only JOHN LLOYD Cruz — he’s also Popoy, Palits, Rovic, Eli, and Yuri; only a few of the roles that skyrocketed him to highly bankable leading man stature. Though there is no definite confirmation yet on what his role is in the upcoming show Imortal — of whether he’s playing a cold-blooded, brooding vampire (of Edward Cullen/Bill/ Damon proportions, we don’t know), or if he’s going that Jacob Black route — all is up in the air right now, but the prospect of a role is a definite chalenge. “The whole experience so far has been very interesting, because this is a new genre for me,” Cruz said. “When you get used to drama, to real life — your instinct is to always look for logic. Imortal has a different kind of dimension.” His answers, though seemingly careful and cautious, are probably the cumulative effect of his tenure and thorough understanding of the business. He’s honest without really giving anything away, but not evasive or teasing. He’s just a guy who prefers to keep his personal life, well, personal. “I know the nature of this business that I entered,” he continued. “They would know and I would know if I’m giving them BS.” If the prodding continues, though, he’ll appeal for some public sphere patience. “When I’m not ready to answer a specific question, I ask for time,” he said. “Then I can give them a more specific, more straight and more definite answer. So everybody’s happy.” JOHN LLOYD Cruz cringed when I said he was a VIP — which, by all counts, was true, but his semi-uncomfortable laugh begged to differ. “If you allow the ‘VIP’ status to affect your lifestyle, and your personal relationships, it will happen,” he said. Even when he’s being submerged with constant gossip spirals, womanizer accusation tirades, and nonstop love life speculations, he manages to rise above it, keeping his cool and flashing that megawatt smile of his. You know exactly which one — the one that’s been guaranteed to launch a thousand fangirl shrieks. If it isn’t clear to you yet, JOHN LLOYD Cruz possesses a rare air of humility, conspicuously scattered around his matinee idol exterior. And he’s playing his cards right, too — surrounding himself with people whom he can trust. “It’s really the people around you, because if it was just me, I might not be able to handle all the fame, the success,” he said. By the end of it all, I was sent into this sort of confounded state, and more questions followed suit. Is this guy for real? Can he even do wrong? He seems too good to be true. There’s a lot that we’ll never be able to find out, but judging from my brief encounter with this larger-than-life superstar, he just might be. Attachments:

www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/8473/John-Lloyd-Cruz-regrets-that-the-movie-sequel-with-Sarah-Geromino-will-not-push-through.aspxABS-CBN by Bernie Franco August 27, 2010
JOHN LLOYD Cruz regrets that the movie sequel with Sarah Geromino will not push throughDuring a press visit to the set of Imortal, JOHN LLOYD Cruz’s teleserye with Angel Locsin, the dramatic actor said that he feels the pressure to live up to being branded as the best actor of his generation. Imortal is his first-ever fantaserye and that he is still learning the ropes of this genre. “From my end naman as a participant in this project medyo bago nga ito dahil ngayon lang ako sasabak sa ganitong genre na may halong fantasy dahil for the past how many years ang ginagawa ko lang base sa drama [at] base sa real life so eto medyo nangangapa pa tayo.” However, the actor is confident that Imortal has the potential to be a hit because the entire production team has worked hard to make the show really good. “We’re doing everything to make this work and para mapaganda,” he assured. LLOYDY was also asked about his opinion on Sarah Geronimo’s refusal to do the third installment of their blockbuster hit movie A Very Special Love (2008). The Pop Star Princess said in her previous interviews that she could not handle the pressure to outdo the huge success of the first two installments. Though he did not share Sarah’s opinion at first, JOHN LLOYD said that he respects Sarah’s choice and that it would be hard to push through with the project when Sarah is not up to it. “Everything happens for a reason and also all things work out for the best,” he justified. “Siguro ito ‘yung dapat mangyari. Mahirap din naman gawin ang isang bagay na may tumutulol o hindi naniniwala. Ang hirap lang kasi we had that [special chemistry], eh. During the filming of for the first few days, ang hirap paniwalain ng tao that we can make this work [but] then tinuloy lang natin and then when it came out, boom!”
He continued that he might have had a hard time accepting Sarah’s decision had there been a script for the movie already. “Baka nanghinayang ako kung nakita ko ‘yung script at nakita ko na may pupuntahan pa palang maganda. Buti na lang wala, na hindi na umabot do'n,” he reasoned.
Unlike Sarah, JOHN LLOYD pointed out that he would have agreed to give their supposed third movie together a chance for many reasons. “I was wondering also kung saan pa ba pupunta ‘yung storya. I was willing to give it a shot, I was willing to wait ‘till the creative team comes up with a script and tingnan ko kung ano bang pupuntahan kasi I strongly feel we owe to the audience na nagmahal sa team-up nina Migui and Laida (characters of LLOYDY and Sarah), ‘yun lang ang tingin ko.”Attachments:

www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/8469/Angel-Locsin-doesn-t-need-to-teach-John-Lloyd-Cruz-how-to-act-in-a-fantaserye.aspxABS-CBN by Napoleon Quintos August 27, 2010
Angel Locsin doesn't need to teach JOHN LLOYD Cruz how to act in a fantaseryeMany are excited about the first team up of Angel Locsin and JOHN LLOYD Cruz via the upcoming ABS-CBN fantaserye, Imortal. When reporters interviewed Angel on the set, she shared how she is having a great time working with JOHN LLOYD. “Okay kami ni JOHN LLOYD kasi nakakatuwa, kung titingnan mo tahimik lang. Pero kapag nakakwentuhan mo na ang dami niyang alam. Kaya kapag may eksena kami, looking forward talaga ako. Kasi in between takes, kapag set-up, nakakapagkwentuhan kami. Ang dami kong natututunan sa kanya na bago. Exciting talaga.” Whenever they would get to chat on the set, JOHN LLOYD would talk about his relationship with his family and the other things that he does outside of showbiz. “Nalaman ko rin kung gaano siya ka-attached sa family. Hanggang ngayon nakatira pa rin siya kasama ‘yung family niya. Ipinakita niya sa akin ‘yung bagong bahay niya. Nakwento niya ‘yung mga investments niya, mga ibang plano niya sa buhay. Pero siyempre marami pa rin akong dapat ma-discover sa kanya kaya excited ako na makasama pa siya every day.” Also according to Angel, Imortal paved the way for her to get know the “JOHN LLOYD” known for his acting prowess and professionalism. Angel shared, “Kasi first time ko talaga siya maka trabaho. Ang alam ko lang sa kanya e ‘yung kung ano ang alam ng lahat, na napakagaling niyang aktor. Nakita ko kasi kung paano siya mag prepare sa isang eksena. Walang biro, kina-career niya talaga. Darating siya sa set alam na niya ang linya niya. Kapag tinawag na siya, tatayo agad ‘yan. First time kong nakakita ng artistang bagong gising…. ‘di ba tayo kapag bagong gising mo-moment muna, pero siya tayo agad. So ako, mapipilitan na ring tumayo agad.” With this, Angel said there’s no need for her to assist JOHN LLOYD in doing a fantaserye like Imortal. This project is JOHN LLOYD’s first fantasy series, while Angel has done several in the past. She played a wolf/woman in the teleserye Lobo which earned her a Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards. “Hindi ko na siya kailangan i-guide kasi ang galing galing na niya umarte! Tumigil nga siya! Ha ha ha!,” the actress answered with a laugh. She further revealed that JOHN LLOYD handled his fight scenes in Imortal with grace. “Bago sa kanya angfantaserye, pero parang hindi naman! Ganun siya kagaling. Hindi obvious na bago sa kanya ‘to. Action star na kaya ‘yan! ‘Yung action scenes niya hindi pilit. May lalim. Natural.

“Siguro this time around it’s going to be a better night, a more meaningful night. Last year naman I came with Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina and ngayon iba na.” “So far okay naman.” “Oo naman excited ako to be here and to have time with everyone.” Attachments:

www.abs-cbn.com/Feature/Article/8568/John-Lloyd-Cruz-says-that-he-is-not-out-to-compete-with-Vhong-Navarro.aspxABS CBN by Bernie Franco September 07, 2010
JOHN LLOYD Cruz says that he is not out to compete with Vhong Navarro
JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Toni Gonzaga finally met last week to shoot their first scenes together for their upcoming movie. Coincidentally, Toni is a perennial leading lady of Vhong Navarro, who is LLOYDY’s good friend and fellow Kanto Boys member, along with Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford. JOHN LLOYD admitted that he is a big fan of the Toni-Vhong team-up and was even able to watch the onscreen couple’s last movie together, My Only U. “Napanood ko at kuhang-kuha ko ‘yung tema at gustong-gusto ko ‘yung pelikula. To tell you honestly, hindi dahil makakatrabaho ko si Toni at kaibigang malapit ko si Vhong [kaya ko nagustohan]. Kuhang-kuha ko ‘yung humor, kuhang-kuha ko ‘yung ginawa nilang page-experimento and instantly, naging fan ako ng pelikulang My Only U.” With a new leading lady, JOHN LLOYD was asked if he thinks his onscreen partnership with Toni can match or top the success of the Toni-Vhong team-up. JOHN LLOYD replied that he has no plans of competing with anyone and besides that, there are still revisions being done on the script. “Marami pang kailangang gawin sa storya, sa script. So kung mahihigitan siya, I don’t know [at] kung anong sense niya mahihigitan. But mahirap sabihin kasi baka magkaiba ng tema or kung magkahawig man, I mean I can’t really say kasi that wouldn’t be the intention ‘yung mahigitan ‘yung pelikula. Kumbaga ang gusto lang namin makagawa kami ng pelikula na makakapag-entertain sana sa maraming audience.” JOHN LLOYD is thankful that he continues to get projects. “Ever since I started 13 years ago, tuloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho tapos mga three to four years ago, parang nag-peak pa siya,” he said. The actor went on to say that more than the projects, he finds fulfillment in what he is doing. “Iba ‘yung ginagawa mo ‘yung trabaho mo, iba rin ‘yung nagkakaroon ka ng fulfillment.” He said that there is nothing more he could ask for at this point. “Higit pa sa sobra ang meron tayo,” he pointed out. Nevertheless, JOHN LLOYD also explained that he is not resting on his laurels. The actor shared that he cannot be complacent just because his career is doing well. “Kasi ‘pag dun ka nagkulang, pwedeng mag-reflect ‘yun ng ‘di maganda sa trabaho mo, sa performances mo,” he said.
