JOHN LLOYD Cruz says he wants to please leading lady Angel LocsinIn an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN reporters, JOHN LLOYD Cruz said that he was overjoyed knowing that his newest teleserye, Imortal, will be aired on primetime TV earlier than expected. “Aaminin ko nung una parang nakakanerbyos talaga at pumasok yung totoong kaba. Pero ang bilis napalitan ng excitement e. Sobra akong na-excite at parang may butterflies in my stomach. Parang ganon ang dating niya. Nakaka-excite na may element of surprise kasi lahat tayo nasorpresa so ang nakukuha ko sa kanya, maganda, positive energy. It’s definitely a nice surprise,” he stated during a media visit on Imortal’s taping at Antipolo City yesterday, September 29. Instead of feeling pressured because Imortal is the sequel of Lobo (top-billed by Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin)—which was not only critically-acclaimed here in the country but also gave Angel an International Emmy nomination for Best Actress— JOHN LLOYD believes that it would actually work to their advantage. “Well, sa tingin ko, makakatulong yun kasi kumbaga may following na yung show. So kung sino man yung mga tumatangkilik sa Lobo, I’m sure aabangan nila itong Imortal. And sana magawa namin yung dapat naming magawa para hindi sila (viewers) bumitaw at makuha din namin yung interes nila.” When asked about his working relationship with Angel, the multitalented actor revealed that she’s actually the most caring of all his leading ladies to the point that he’s really challenged to be as sensitive to her needs as well. �“Sa totoo lang, kay Angel ako natuto na it's about time na matuto ako mag-alaga at mag-asikaso ng leading lady ko. Hindi naman sa ibig sabihin nun na dati hindi ako marunong. Kumbaga ngayon mas nag-eexert ka ng effort to make your onscreen partner more comfortable, you make sure na ok siya palagi,” JOHN LLOYD explained. Incidentally, the media people have noted Angel’s good rapport with JOHN LLOYD’s parents who dropped by on the set. But he was quick to clarify that it was actually the first time Angel met his mom and dad. “Hahaha! I believe ngayon lang sila nagkakakilala. Si Angel naman kasi yung tipo, my mom din naman also, hindi siya mahirap mahuli ang ugali niya. So siguro dito sila nagkakilala, nagkabatian. Wala sigurong naging problema, kaya ang dating [sa ibang tao] close sila agad.” Aside from his revelations about his team-up with Angel, JOHN LLOYD would also like to give a few details about his character as Mateo Rodriguez. “Magsisimula kasi ako sa pagkabata. Yung batang malapit na malapit sa kanyang tatay, na ang nangyari, parang nagkahiwalay sila ng landas. So paglaki niya, nagkaroon siya ng hinanakit at poot sa kanyang ama na ginamit niyang motivation to be someone who matters. JOHN LLOYD Cruz breaks his silence on the ‘hospital scandal’ involving him and Shaina MagdayaoFor the very first time, JOHN LLOYD Cruz took on the issue about the alleged hospital scandal which plagued him and girlfriend Shaina Magdayao last month. Although he was clearly repulsed by the malicious accusations being thrown their way, he stressed that it was too ridiculous for him to let it affect their relationship or even his work for that matter. “Kung tungkol lang dun sa balitang yun, hindi naman nakaapekto sa amin yun [ni Shaina]. Sa trabaho hindi [din] naman nakakaapekto e. I mean, hindi ganong bagay ang makakaapekto sa trabaho ko. Alam ko yung mga bagay na makakaapekto sa mga ginagawa ko at hindi yun isa sa mga yun,” he stated in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN reporters last September 29. The two Star Magic artists were caught in a shocking controversy when reports got out that they were allegedly rushed to the hospital after encountering a rare medical condition that occurs during sexual intercourse. But their managers were quick to refute such reports followed by Shaina’s firm denial during the press conference of her teleserye, Precious Hearts Romances Presents Alyna, two weeks ago. When asked if Shaina asked for his permission to speak about it, JOHN LLOYD simply replied, “Hindi niya kailangan humingi ng permiso sa akin. Siyempre napag-uusapan namin, nakukuwento niya. Basically yun lang naman. She can handle herself naman, so wala namang problema.” JOHN LLOYD was also happy to hear that Shaina had been very vocal about how he made her feel secure throughout that difficult ordeal. “Well, gagawin mo lang yung dapat mong gawin. Gagawin mo lahat to make her feel alright. I guess I was just doing my part. And whatever it is na gusto ko or dapat sabihin sa kanya, nasabi ko na.” He further shared that the negative intrigues about them even made them stronger as a couple. “Oo naman. ‘Di ba, yung parang, what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger. Angel, JOHN LLOYD headline Imortal
MANILA, Philippines - Angel Locsin, JOHN LLOYD Cruz, Maricar Reyes and Rico Blanco are set to stir up your weeknights as they grace the biggest teleserye of 2010, Imortal, premiering tomorrow, Oct. 4 on ABS-CBN. Angel has bloomed into a full blown actress when she transferred to ABS-CBN three years ago. Her first series was Lobo, where she earned acclaims from the critics for her outstanding performance as Lyka. As she comes home to being a lobo, Angel still feels nervous about her third entry to the primetime block of the Kapamilya network, “Nakakakaba pa rin po. It’s been a year na rin kasi since my last teleserye. Sana talaga magustuhan ng mga tao,” she added, “Lobo po ako ulit dito kaya excited rin naman ako. Lobo ako pero isa pong bagong karakter ang gagampanan ko. Ako po si Lia.” On the other hand, JOHN LLOYD revealed that he missed being part of a primetime series. Two years rin ako invisible sa Primetime Bida. Now that I’m back via Imortal, sobra akong ganado talaga especially now that I am working with Angel. Two promising stars are also geared up to pour out their passion on TV: Maricar, who has remained tough and thirsty for challenge and Rico, who is now getting his feet wet in a new form of art, mainstream acting. Maricar has done several challenging roles, both in television and movies, but for her, she considers Samantha as one of the toughest characters she has to portray. “My role is very challenging. I have to learn a bit of martial arts for my role as a vampire for the action scenes,” Maricar shared. Imortal is born on ABS-CBN Primetime BidaABS-CBN continues its celebration of the 60 years of Pinoy Soap Opera with a new Primetime Bida offering, Imortal. The action-fantaserye marks the first team up of two of the hottest and most acclaimed stars of this generation, JOHN LLOYD Cruz and Angel Locsin. Imortal follows the story of the centuries-old war between vampires and werewolves. The battle will see its culmination in the bloody clash of the anointed descendants from each tribe. But what if the vampire and the werewolf fall in love with one another? Will they defy destiny to follow the call of their hearts? Angel plays Lia, the half human-half werewolf who is out to redeem the disparaged honor of her parents. Angel has done numerous action-fantaserye in the past, the last one being Lobo wherein her performance earned her a Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards. The actress admitted feeling the pressure of making Imortal as successful as Lobo. “Sa kahit anong project na ginagawa natin may pressure. Pero hindi na dapat iniisip masyado ‘yun. The premiere actor-leading man is more known for his remarkable drama and romantic projects. Playing Mateo, JOHN LLOYD said Imortal has everything that makes him feel excited as an actor. “Ngayon lang ako sasabak sa genre na may halong fantasy. In the past years ang mga ginagawa ko puro lang base sa real life. Drama, romantic comedy. Dito sa Imortal medyo nangangapa pa ako. Excited ako na bago siyang genre. “Walang problema ’yun kasi si Angel kaibigan ko at nakatrabaho ko na siya sa Lobo, and at the same time I also trust JOHN LLOYD,” sabi ni Shaina.
