He started in the biz when he was 14-years-old,he was launched as one of the many young members of ABS-CBN’s Talent Center . He was then launched as part of Koolits, the trio of boys that included Baron Geisler and Marc Solis.

Even when they had a regular stint in ASAP, the group never took off. But his own career took off when he was cast in the ensemble youth-oriented drama Tabing Ilog as the young loser- but responsible father Rovic, critics also began to notice his fine acting talent.

He won the Best Actor in a drama series ('Tabing Ilog')from the Star Awards for TV in 2001.

It was when he was offered the breaktrough role of hotshot young lawyer Yuri Urbida in the teleserye Kay Tagal Ka Nang Hinintay that he finally got the break that would make him the hot young star that he is now.

Hi! I decided to start this thread after I've been getting several request and queries about JOHN LLOYD - especially from our friends from Malaysia. They really don't know much about JOHN LLOYD before he became really popular as Yuri Orbida in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay ('The Long Wait' in Malaysia) and as Earl Lawrence Trinidad in It Might Be You.

I also encourage the rest of you to share more information (like those taken from old articles on him). Share them with your ONLINE FRIENDS.

WHEN JOHN LLOYD Cruz was tapped to play the pivotal role of Lorna Tolentino's long-lost son, Yuri in the teleserye, "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay," the young star was ecstatic.

He eagerly attended the workshops for the young actors in the cast.


In "Kay Tagal," former street kid Yuri becomes a sensible and dignified young lawyer with the help of his surrogate father, Mirdo (played by Ronnie Lazaro), and mentor, Dmitri (Johnny Delgado).

On his first taping day, JOHN LLOYD kept trembling, and he eventually broke down. "I felt I wasn't able to give justice to the role," he recalls.

He is grateful to Delgado, who helped him delineate his role. "I learned a lot from him," says JOHN LLOYD about the veteran actor. "Sabi niya, dapat walang pattern ang acting ko, and that I should focus more on my character."

JOHN LLOYD is also in the Sunday-afternoon youth series, "Tabing Ilog," which is shot on location in Laguna. And he will play a lead role in a Star Cinema movie this year-a twin bill that will feature two of the most popular love teams now: JOHN LLOYD and Bea Alonzo, and John Prats and Heart Evangelista.

When a whitening soap brand conducted market research a few months ago, they found out that many people wanted JOHN LLOYD to endorse their product. "But I thought hard before I accepted the offer of Silka," the actor relates. "Then I found out na hindi naman ako gagamit ng sabon sa commercial, so OK lang."

yeah... Kay Tagal is a big hit here in Malaysia, its already been showed here for two times. For me, LLOYDY has done a very good job as Yuri Orbida in Kay Tagal. Yuri is so stubborn but we still love him, hehehehe...

now IMBY is being show here in Malaysia...... its a heartbreaking episodes nowadays...
